Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)

A virus that can cause your immune system to shut down. It can be trasmitted by blood, semen, breast milk and vaginal fluid, for example during unprotected sex or by sharing dirty needles. People with HIV can progress to AIDS and may die, but there are medications that can help prevent this from happening. There is no cure for HIV though.
